DMCA
NY Post respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content here infringes your copyright, tell us and we act fast.
Before you file
Many disputes come from a missing credit, a reused screenshot or a quote that looks longer than it is. Check the page carefully and note the exact material you own. If the use is fair, a short message is usually faster than a formal notice. We answer both.
How to file a notice
Email contact us with the subject DMCA NOTICE. Include the exact page URL, a description of the copyrighted work, proof that you own it, and your contact details. Anonymous tips without evidence cannot be processed. Incomplete notices delay removal.
What happens next
Valid notices are reviewed within three business days. Infringing material is removed or disabled first, questions later. We keep a record of each notice and tell the original author what changed. Repeat offenders lose access permanently.
Counter notices
Believe material was removed by mistake? Reply with your full name, address, and consent to jurisdiction. We restore content within ten business days unless the complainant files court action. We do not mediate ownership disputes and will follow a valid court order.
Repeat infringement
Accounts and contributors with more than two upheld notices are removed from the site. We also block domains that repeatedly submit false notices without evidence. The goal is a clean library, not a fight.
Filing checklist
A usable notice names the work, the infringing URL, your relationship to the work, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. Add a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner. A phone number helps us resolve simple mistakes before removal.
Timelines and evidence
We acknowledge every complete notice within one business day and finish review within three. Screenshots are useful, but a public URL for the original work is stronger. If the claim covers several pages, list each URL on its own line. We do not accept notices that ask us to remove an entire site when one image is at issue.
What we cannot do
We cannot decide who owns a disputed work, award damages, or unmask an anonymous contributor without a court order. We can remove material, restore it after a valid counter notice, and explain what happened. For ownership disputes, talk to a lawyer; our role is limited to the notice-and-takedown process.
Contact about a claim
Send notices and counter notices to contact us with DMCA in the subject line. Keep a copy for your records. If you need an update, reply to the same thread instead of opening a new one, so the timeline stays in one place.
