The American public idolizes celebrities for various reasons: fame, money, power and influence, just to name a few. We emulate their style in many ways, but with some celebrities frequenting their nearby hobby shop to satisfy their collection habits, will we begin to follow this trend as well? Below are some famous celebrities and their unique interests in acquiring.
Rod Stewart is known for his assortment of model trains. Keifer Sutherland, of the TV show “24,” collects Gibson Guitars. He now owns over 38 guitars, which he keeps in his studio. Because of his interest in these guitars, Gibson actually made a personal guitar for Sutherland himself. The only other celebrities with their own personal guitars include Robby Krieger and Slash.
A most interesting hobby shop frequenter is Quentin Tarantino, who happens to own TV-show themed board games. If you spot Tarantino, you may also find Nicole Kidman viewing the Judean coin cabinet. Both celebrities are known for being very diligent in their collecting habits. Aside from them you may find Angelina Jolie who is constantly improving her butterfly knife skills with her knife collection.
Other celebrities collect objects much more off the beaten path. Reese Witherspoon has an assemblage of antique linen, which harkens back to her eccentric upbringing in New Orleans, Louisiana. Brad Pitt spends a lot of his extra money on metal art, which he picks up while travelling around the world for his work. He even spent almost $1,000,000 on a piece of artwork while visiting Switzerland. A most eccentric collector is Tom Hanks who is known for acquiring authentic typewriters from across the world and travelling with them in times of intellectual and creative curiosity.
The two most unusual famous collectors include Claudia Schiffer and Johnny Depp. Schiffer has always had a fondness for insects, which can be noticed the minute you walk into her home. Her artwork includes images of insects, and even a piece that is made up of insect parts. Often her clothes even reflect her passion for insects, and most specifically spiders of all kinds. The most notorious celebrity with this interest of all time has to be Johnny Depp. Depp has been known to collect lamps, deco furnishings, and a pigeon skeleton from a hobby shop in Paris, France.
No matter your personal interest, if you decide to frequent a hobby shop there is a great chance you may be arguing over a piece with someone famous. Whether it is antiques, jewelry, or bugs, people around the country (and around the world) have an interest in the most outrageous objects. When you have some time off, drop by a hobby shop. You may find a new interest and a new celebrity friend!
